Prayer Triplets

Prayer triplets are a simple way of giving and receiving prayer and pastoral support for a couple of others in the church.

If you would like to trial being in a prayer triplet, then please email Alexandra (revalexandralilley@gmail.com) to let her know. She will then put you in touch with a couple of others who are also interested.

It is up to the triplet to decide on frequency of meeting; length of meeting; method of meeting and content, but a suggestion would be:

  • Meeting weekly or fortnightly

  • 45 minutes

  • Via WhatsApp Video or Zoom (until we’re able to meet in person again safely)

  • Each sharing a couple of things for thanksgiving and a couple of things for prayer - and agreeing confidentiality in the group

  • Praying together after sharing and agreeing to pray at least once for one another between meetings

  • Review after six weeks and either end or continue.

If you feel nervous or uncertain about praying with others, then you’re not alone! Keeping prayer simple is always the best approach - and remember that you are speaking to God, who knows your heart, and not to the other people, so it doesn’t have to be articulate! You can simply pray:

“Thank you, loving God, for the blessings you have given X. We praise you. We lift to you the people and situations that we have talked about, which need your help. Please guide X with wisdom, strength, compassion and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

And you can end with a familiar prayer, such as the Lord’s Prayer:

“Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth, as in heaven.

Give us today, our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,

for the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,

Now and forever, Amen.”

Hope you are able to offer yourself to a prayer triplet - and praying that this will be a blessing to you.
