CANCELLED: Emergency night shelter 28-30 March
UPDATE: The rehousing process is hopefully going to be quicker than anticipated and there is no longer a need for the shelter. A big thank you to all those who offered their time and cooking!
You may have seen the news that local councils have been asked by the Government to find accommodation for all rough sleepers this weekend, which is good news. The practicalities are somewhat trickier though...
We cancelled the week of our night shelter (due to happen at the start of April), but a need has arisen over this weekend while guests are found last-minute accommodation.
So on an emergency basis, we are hosting 11 homeless guests at St George's from Saturday evening to Monday morning and will need a team of volunteers to help with beds, dinner, breakfast etc.
We will, of course, be following very careful guidelines about social distancing and hygiene. Thankfully the church is a big space! PLEASE DO NOT VOLUNTEER IF YOU ARE VULNERABLE OR HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19.
If you are able to volunteer for a shift, please sign up HERE. And please do put the word out more widely.
Many thanks in advance for your kindness and care.
