Seeking a Handyperson

We are looking for a reliable handyperson to work, on average, four hours per week to keep the church site a welcoming and safe space.

The role will involve:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance work and minor repair works

  • Clearing rubbish around the site and sweeping the forecourt weekly

  • Watering plants if necessary and keeping plants cut back tidily

  • Highlighting current or potential issues with the building

  • Occasional larger projects e.g. putting up shelves, painting and decorating.

The successful candidate will be:

1. Reliable and hard working – have experience of seeing a job through from start to finish

2. Skilled in routine maintenance work

3. Able to lift and carry heavy items

4. Adept in carpentry and/or joinery skills

5. Knowledgeable about health and safety issues and fire regulations.

It would be desirable if the candidate has experience of being a handyperson or caretaker for a church or other public building.

The role is self-employed and the four hours per week can be worked flexibly.

Remuneration is £20 per hour, to be invoiced on a weekly or monthly basis.
