Lent 2022
Lent is a time for pausing to reflect more deeply on the shape, practices and values of our lives; to draw nearer to God in repentance, fasting, giving and prayer; and to anticipate the life-changing drama of Jesus’ death and resurrection, which we revisit in Holy Week.
This year, we will be marking Lent in the following ways, and you are warmly welcome to join in, in whatever way works for you:
LENT COURSE - EMBRACING JUSTICE
We will be reading the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book 2022, Embracing Justice by Isabelle Hamley - one chapter a week - and then meeting to discuss it each Wednesday, 8-9pm on Zoom. Email Alexandra to receive the link to join the discussions.
DAILY READINGS & ACTIONS
To accompany the theme of ‘Embracing Justice’, everyone is invited to take a daily reading and action leaflet from church - there’s one for adults and one for children - and to take part throughout the forty days.
GIVING
The Diocese of London Lent Appeal for 2022 will focus on raising awareness around issues of mental health & wellbeing for adults and young people, along with domestic abuse. We will be raising money to support three partner charities who are all offering resources and bespoke training to churches as we work to achieve this:
Renew Wellbeing – helping churches create safe spaces where it’s ok to not be ok
Restored – equipping the Church to end domestic abuse and create a safe place for survivors of abuse
Be Headstrong – supporting young people and those who come alongside them in their social, emotional and spiritual development
